Andrews Lions Club and SCLCS Restores Sight and Hope

Herbert-Morris-Surgery

South Carolina Lions Charitable Services (SCLCS) was contacted by social worker Cecily Barnard regarding cataract surgery assistance for one of her patients, Mr. Herbert Morris who desperately need surgery on his left eye. Mr. Morris could not work due to a previous stroke and had no insurance or sufficient funds to pay for the Surgery. Lion Gregg Turner from SCLCS contacted Lion David Tisdale from the Andrews Club and explained SCLCS would be willing to pay for the surgery performed by Coastal Eye Group of Georgetown. However SCLCS needed the Andrews Club to validate and pay for the initial exam. The Andrews Club approved the expenditure of funds which amounted to $110.00 for the exam. The examination was completed on January 14, 2011 and successful eye surgery was performed on February 16, 2011. Surgery was performed by Dr. Carol Young from the Coastal Eye Group of Georgetown.

The restoration of one's sight cannot be understated. It is also the restoration of one's life. Lions are restoring more than just sight. They are restoring hope.
